Emma Watson has opened up about the strange reality of fame.

A resurfaced report stated that during an appearance on On Purpose with Jay Shetty in September 2025, hosted by Jay Shetty, the actress reflected on how her celebrity image often enters a room before she does.

Emma began, “It feels like my avatar suddenly walks into the room unexpectedly. And then I’m navigating a completely different conversation when someone doesn’t realize it’s me yet.”

She also revealed that interacting with people who recognize her public persona as her authentic self can sometimes feel “inhuman.”

She continued: “That can feel very inhumane and sometimes quite…it can be quite a shocking experience to see someone’s behavior completely change and change and change.”

Meanwhile, the actress joked that the dating world is “basically a complete disaster and a free for all,” adding, “I feel like I’m in good company in that sense.”

Emma further revealed that she actually prefers meeting people who are unfamiliar with her work.

“It’s funny, every now and then people will apologize to me for not seeing my movies. And I’ll say, ‘Please don’t apologize. That’s lucky for me,'” Emma revealed to Jay.

She concluded, “It’s music to my ears that you’re not going to be navigating it all the time. And I’m also navigating this projection of mine with you, otherwise this Emma Watson avatar person isn’t going to be this ghost in the room.”
