Ethan Slater has “the fear of being misunderstood.”
The 33-year-old actor – who is romantically linked to his Bad: forever co-star Ariana Grande, and currently reigniting breakup rumors, has admitted he can’t text people back.
He told it DEBT magazine: “I have a lot of faults. I’m not good at responding to text messages.”
“It can make it seem like I don’t care about the people I love, but it’s actually about being overwhelmed. I struggle to separate the anxiety of everything that comes through my phone from the messages that really matter,” he added.
The Bad star said: “I definitely have a fear of being misunderstood, and that feeds into that. I often feel misunderstood, but you know, that’s what it is.”
Ethan has noticed a change in recent months as his fame has increased, following his role as Boq Woodsman in Bad And Bad: forever.
This year he also had TV roles in Elsbeth and Gen V, among others, in addition to continuing his theater career.
He added: “What has been rewarding over the last six months is that as more projects have been released, people are seeing more than just Boq.”
“I don’t think I’m that recognizable, I’m quite niche, but the more people see the different roles, the more they remember me playing characters,” he said.
“It feels like the roles are coming to the fore and Ethan is stepping back a little bit, which is nice. I feel fortunate to be able to do more things,” concluded Ethan Slater.
