Universal Studios Hollywood has reportedly fired a former child star after the actor reported a suspected pedophile at the theme park.
Stephen Anthony Lawrence, who starred in the American comedy series, Even Stevens from 2001 to 2003, he claimed on his social media account that he had been fired after raising concerns about an individual he believed posed a risk to children.
“I delayed posting this for about a month because I hoped we could find an amicable resolution,” Lawrence captioned his post, along with a photo of his work ID card, posted next to a suit he wore while working there.
He went on to say, “I absolutely loved performing and dancing with all you wonderful people.”
“It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that my time at Universal Studios is over,” Lawrence announced.
The child star, now 35, claimed that his boss and HR professional at Universal Studios fired him “in retaliation for reporting a suspected pedophile around children.”
He further expressed his thoughts, writing, “While I will truly miss my job, I cannot be associated with an organization or people who do not care about the safety of performers or guests while countless people continue to be injured.”
Although he stated that he would not return to his job, which he misses, anytime soon, he did not allow his child to go to the amusement park.
“Knowing what I know, I WILL NEVER ALLOW MY CHILD TO GO TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD. Be safe everyone,” he concluded.
Lawrence played the role of Bernard “Beans” Aranguren in the hit Disney Channel series that ran for three seasons.
