A report in IGN states that despite grossing $1.4 billion worldwide, the film is the lowest-grossing film in the successful franchise.
It’s a shock because raking in more than a billion dollars is a feat that very few films have achieved. However, in the Avatar franchise, the standard is usually set so high.
“The thing is, the film industry is depressed right now. Avatar 3 costs a lot of money,” he previously said. TVBS News.
“We have to do it right to keep going. We have to do it right, and we have to figure out how to make Avatar movies cheaper to keep going.”
But despite concerns about the future of the film series, director James Cameron recently said that the fourth installment is on the way.
