Four years until the championship match, but football fans are already excited as UEFA announced the hosting of the Women’s European Championship for 2029.
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin announced at the governing body’s executive committee on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, that Germany will host the Women’s European Championship in 2029.
The results were announced after Germany received the vast majority of votes from UEFA’s executive committee.
The German campaign promised to break records in ticket sales and was selected ahead of a bid from Poland and a joint entry from Denmark and Sweden.
Portugal withdrew from the bidding process in November and the Italian Football Federation withdrew in August.
The final decision came in the first round of voting, with 15 of the 17 votes going to Germany.
The remaining two votes were in favor of the Denmark-Sweden bid.
Germany are eight-time European champions, and the 2029 tournament will take place five years after the country hosted the men’s competition.
Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hannover, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich and Wolfsburg were the eight host cities included in the bid document.
In addition, the largest stadium will be the Allianz Arena in Munich, with a capacity of 75,024 people, approximately double the size of the largest venue used during Euro 2025 at St. Jakob Park in Basel this summer.
“We are proud and excited to host UEFA Women’s Euro 2029,” said DFB President Bernd Neuendorf.
“We would like to thank UEFA for the trust they have placed in us. Organizing such an important tournament is an honor, but it also comes with a great responsibility,” said the German Football Association DFB.
