Ghislaine Maxwell has claimed in a lawsuit that about 25 “untouchable” men were involved in secret settlements with Jeffrey Epstein’s accusers.
These men may now come under scrutiny as the case has gained international popularity. Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking, made the claim in a petition as she seeks to have her conviction overturned.
In the filing, she referred to unnamed individuals and alleged that multiple settlements had been reached between victims and powerful figures linked to Epstein’s network. She also argued that prosecutors failed to investigate certain individuals she said were named in connection with the case.
“New evidence reveals that there were 25 men with whom the [accuser’s] Lawyers have made secret settlements – who might as well be considered co-conspirators,” Maxwell wrote in the fiery petition.
She continued, “The government could have charged the four named co-conspirators, or any of the 25 men who secretly settled with the lawyers for the case.” [accuser] complainants, but they didn’t.”
Maxwell has repeatedly argued that she was wrongfully targeted after Epstein’s death and is seeking relief from her sentence through legal channels.
One expert believes Maxwell’s confession sends a clear message to Epstein’s influential friends to get her out of jail.
“It’s an absolute bargaining chip – she wants a pardon, a reduced sentence, commutation,” private investigator Ed Opperman said. Radaronline. “She’s throwing this out there so that the people on that list will use their wealth, power and influence to get her out of jail and keep her quiet.”
He continued, “The federal government could certainly prosecute these rich and powerful men even if the victim signed a non-disclosure agreement because the settlement could be considered an admission of guilt.”
Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting trial, had ties to several high-profile figures, all of whom have denied wrongdoing.
