San Francisco: Google has rolled out a new program with the name Gemini for the government and offers artificial intelligence tools free of charge to American authorities, the government announced on Thursday.
The goal, said civil servants, is to help departments to work faster, easier to solve problems and bring modern technology into everyday government tasks.
A series of AI and Cloud Computing services called “Gemini for the government” of Google is intended to speed up the approval of technology in the US government, said the General Services Administration (GSA) in a joint statement.
“Gemini For the government gives federal agencies access to our full stacking approach of AI innovation,” added Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai.
“So that they can deliver their important missions.”
AI tools that are provided include generating video, images and ideas, as well as digital “agents” that are able to take care of complex tasks independently.
American agencies pay a nominal reimbursement of less than a dollar for the AI tools, building on an earlier agreement in which Google Workspace software was provided to the government with a considerable discount, according to the GSA.
“Federal agencies can now considerably transform their activities by using the tools in Gemini for the government,” said GSA -ancanding manager Michael Rigas.
The deal only comes a few weeks after Google Rival OpenAi said it allowed the US government to use a version of Chatgpt that was designed for companies for a year for just $ 1.
“By giving government employees access to powerful, secure AI tools, we can help them solve problems for more people, faster,” said OpenAi in a blog post in which the partnership was announced.
Earlier this year, the US Department of Defense Openai granted a contract of $ 200 million to make generative AI work for the army.
OpenAi was planning to show how advanced AI could improve administrative activities, such as how service members receive healthcare, and also noticed his potential cyber defense applications, the start-up in a post said.
