Helen Mirren just shared her thoughts on how she envisions her beauty legacy.
She had a conversation with PEOPLE magazine at the L’Oréal Paris Women of Worth 2025 event in Los Angeles and the actress revealed that she doesn’t like the word “beauty.”
Mirren said she hopes she will be remembered for something more meaningful when it comes to her personal aesthetic.
“I don’t like the word beauty. I’ve always preferred the word swagger. So my legacy would be: ‘She had a good swagger,'” said the global ambassador for L’Oréal Paris.
Mirren also previously opened up about her biggest red carpet style hack, noting that it’s all about the footwear.
“I’ve learned over the years that your shoes should be wearable,” the red star shared PEOPLE during the Cannes Film Festival in May.
“They don’t necessarily have to be comfortable. And comfortable is even a bit boring sometimes, and you want cool shoes. But they have to be bearable, because if you’re in excruciating pain, it’s going to reflect on your face and your posture and everything. So you start with the shoes and just make sure that you’re safe in them and that they’re bearable,” she explains.
The 80-year-old also shared that she has reached a stage in her career where she values comfort in fashion, while admitting this was not always the case.
‘I’ve gotten to the point where I just want it [my red-carpet outfit] also to be comfortable. Beauty knows no pain. I’ve been there more than once, you know, sucking up the pain for my vanity. But again, it reflects on your face if you’re comfortable,” Helen Mirren concluded.
