Hilary Duff has opened up about her complicated family relationships in a new album luck…or something like that.
In an interview with Glamourthe singer revealed how personal struggles inspired her upcoming album. She said several songs reference her ties to her sister, Haylie Duff, and her father Robert Duff.
However, fans have speculated that the song We don’t talk reflects on tensions with sisters, while The Optimist is about Hilary’s relationship with her father.
The singer told the outlet, “That’s my family. Those are the people who influence you the most, who naturally take up the most space as a human being born into something.”
“Just because you’re born into a family doesn’t mean it will always stay together. You only control your side and your street,” she added.
Hilary admitted that she had had a “very complicated life,” noting, “My parents had something very complicated.”
“I know it’s not rare, and I think it goes back to the theme of, Why share now? I think I just felt ready,” Hilary said.
Hilary Duff shared the reason why she “really felt ready to share the album,” happiness…or something like that which marks her first album in over 10 years.
“First, I wanted to stretch myself creatively, and second, I wanted to make something that would allow me to reconnect with people on the level of who I am today. I felt like people have definitely gone through similar major strokes as I have in the last 10 to 15 years,” she added.
