Tina Knowles says her daughters made sure she went into surgery “laughing.”

Tina Knowles shares the deeply personal moment her daughters Beyoncé and Solange gave her strength for one of the hardest days of her life.

The 71-year-old matriarch attended the Angel Ball in New York City on Monday, October 28, where she received a philanthropic award along with her family. Speak with People magazine at the event, Tina recalled how her girls lifted her spirits before she underwent breast cancer surgery last year.

“Right before I was wheeled in to have the surgery, my girls sang a gospel song, Walk with mewhich I absolutely love,” she said.

Tine, who was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in July 2023, said the heartfelt moment turned lighthearted when Beyoncé and Solange made her laugh with the viral “understated” TikTok trend.

“I went in there smiling and feeling so blessed – like everything was going to be okay. And it was. It warms my heart so much,” Tina recalled.

In her memoirs, MatriarchTina wrote about how Beyoncé was “taking it well and staying positive,” while Solange reassured her, saying, “Mom, we’re going to take care of this.”

The designer attended the Angel Ball on Monday with her granddaughter, 13-year-old Blue Ivy Carter, who was a spitting image of her mother in a pink silk dress.

Beyoncé shared a photo of her mother and daughter on her Instagram and wrote, “Congratulations mom on your philanthropy award at the Angel Ball tonight.”
