Keke Palmer has finally revealed how she knew “something was wrong” when a stranger proposed to her at SXSW.
Less than a month ago, a video of the March 13 SXSW Festival panel “Baby, This is Keke Palmer Live” emerged and was shared by TMZwent viral. It showed a man from the crowd standing on one knee on the edge of the stage and holding out a box of engagement rings to the 32-year-old actress.
“That’s how I knew something was wrong, because the ring was beautiful,” Keke said in the final episode of the series Decisions, decisions podcast.
“It wasn’t like a Cracker Jack ring,” continued the actress, who was at SXSW to promote her upcoming film. I like boosters.
“I mean it, the ring looked expensive,” Keke added. ‘It looked expensive. That’s when I knew something was up.’
The Man in the mirror singer then explained how she could tell something was wrong by the look in the man’s eyes.
“Then I thought ‘is this a joke’ because it was so sincere,” Keke said. ‘I could see in his eyes that we had a romance. In this man’s eyes we have had a whole life.’
“So then I thought, ‘Okay sir, no, I can’t marry you, I can’t marry you, sir.’ And then I knew when he looked back at the people and he said, ‘She wants to say yes. Help her say yes.” And I was like, ‘Oh, no,'” The pickup actress added.
