Researchers revealed that people who consume more flavonol have proven to live longer, which reduces the incidents of death, as well as cancer and cardiovascular disease.
People who were dependent on the dose experienced much better results compared to those who consumed less.
The study published on 25 February in scientific reports, stated: “Eating more fruit and vegetables is good for you!”
Kristin Kirkpatrick, MS RD, a dietician at Cleveland Clinic, and co-author of Regenerative Health, exclusively told Health line: “I am not surprised at all about the results of the research, because many earlier studies have demonstrated a connection between flavonoids and a reduction in the risk of different diseases, as well as the risk of mortality.”
Are flavonols present in regular food?
Flavonols are easy to consume as they are present in regular foods such as onions, lettuce, grapes, kale, berries, black tea, as well as chocolate and wine.
Eating more flavonol -rich food leads to a fall in diseases and reduces the risk of cancer mortality by 50%.
People who consumed more flavonol were less likely to die from natural causes. Mortality risk was reduced by a third compared to those who consumed more flavonol.
All connections, including Isorhamnetin, Kaempferol, Myricetin and Quercetin, also led to improved results for mortality and cancer.
To consume more flavonol, it is crucial to eat many colorful fruit and vegetables.
Speaking about the importance of the compound, Kirkpatrick noted: “I advise my patients to get a daily variety of deeply tinted plants in their diet … Get more color and varies the color! It’s great to have a kale salad every day, but this gives you only one deep color. Berries choose to add different plants.”
Flavonol is the ultimate connection, which must be included in diet. It is therefore important to consume fruit and vegetables to reduce the risk of death due to cardiovascular disease and cancer, improving the overall health of an individual.
