The Indian captain Shubman Gill said that his team played the “perfect game” to bang West -India through an innings and 140 points within three days of the Tendener in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
India bundled West Indies before 162 and 146 and collected 448-5 before he explained in the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Opener Kl Rahul, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Stumper-Batsman Dhruv Jurget made hundreds, and the sharp bowling of the hosts was supported by sharp catch.
“Very happy with the victory. To be honest, I think this was a perfect game for us,” said Gill, who made 50 during the presentation ceremony.
“Three centurions in the game, and I think we played very well in both innings, we don’t really have complaints.”
Against a West Indies attack that was exhausted by the last-minute withdrawals from Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph because of injury, Gill was disappointed that he and open Yashasvi Jaiswal (36) could not make greater contributions.
“I think it was a pretty good wicket to catch on,” he said. “We both started, but could not repent. But there were plenty of other Batsmen who converted, so happy for them.”
Jadeja’s unbeaten 104 was his fifth test a hundred, and he claimed four wickets to get the player-of-the-match award.
“I worked hard with my batting,” said India’s vice captain.
“I had a two -month discount, there was no test cricket or odis and I worked on my skills and fitness.
“I hit number eight and nine a few years ago, but now I got my place at six o’clock. I now have time to prepare myself and I can make my innovation pace.”
West India Captain Roston Chase said it would always be difficult after the first innings of his team had been thrown away.
“I think we probably didn’t even get 50-run partnerships,” he said.
“And in Cricket they are partnerships, whether you hit or bowlen. I just think we should string a number of battle partnerships together, and that will make it easier for us.”
The second and final test is planned for start in New Delhi on October 10.
