India defeated Sri Lanka with 59 points in the opening match of the ICC World Cup World Cup 2025 in the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on Tuesday.
The rain-reduced game saw India Sri Lanka bundling for 211 in 45.4, after the target was revised to 271 in 47 overs according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method.

DETPI returned to dismiss Kavisha Dilhari and Anushka Sanjewani when Sri Lanka slid to 140/6. Nilakshi De Silva tried to fight back, but fell on Rana, who also removed Achini Kulasuriya.
Rawal closed the innings and ran Ranaweera in front, because India claimed a comfortable victory despite early hik.
