Inside ‘Stranger Things’ team’s daring method to film finale

The ‘Stranger Things’ team’s bold move for the finale revealed

In a bold move, the Stranger things team was filming the finale before the script was completed.

The new documentary, One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, provides insight into the making of the final season of the beloved science fiction series.

Behind-the-scenes footage shows creators Matt and Ross Duffer commenting on having to film the show with an incomplete script.

“It’s not like we don’t know what the ending is. It’s all plotted out,” Matt tells the cast and crew.

“I need to write it, but we’re just short on time,” he added.

The documentary went on to reveal that even the finale, which lasted 2 hours and 8 minutes, had to start filming while the script was still incomplete.

In another scene, production assistant Montana Maniscalco informed the camera, “We’re filming episode 8, which isn’t completely written yet – spoiler alert! So we don’t even fully know what’s going on.”

“I’ve never read through 8, and we’re just filming with it,” Matt said. “I’ve never done anything like this before. This is so weird to jump to eight… I don’t like it. I don’t like it.”

The Stranger things The finale aired on December 31 and saw the group, including David Harbour’s Hopper, Winona Ryder’s Joyce, children El, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Erika, Max, and older adults Steve, Nancy and Jonathan, battle Vecna and the Mind Flayer in a final battle.
