Iron Lung, a film from Markiplier, a well-known creator on YouTube, now has a release date of January 2026.
The film was first announced in 2023 and took three years to make. It is based on a game by David Szymanski, an indie horror game first released in 2022.
The creator, who has 73 million followers on social media, plays too big a role in Iron Lung. He not only directed, but also produced, wrote, edited, financed and starred in the film.
Markiplier, who wore many hats in the making and finishing of the film, tells Variety: “They said it couldn’t be done. Not that it couldn’t be done. People have made movies before, just that it would be ‘woefully unwise’ to write, direct, act and edit a movie yourself. I showed them.”
He continues: My bathroom may be a render farm now, but I can’t wait for people to see the blood, sweat, tears and gore that went into this film from everyone involved. He added that “Iron Lung” holds a world record for the most blood in a horror film. Or any movie.”
Iron Lung’s logline read: “The stars are gone. The planets are gone. Only individuals aboard space stations or starships were left to give the ending a name: The Quiet Rapture. After decades of decay and crumbling infrastructure, the Consolidation of Iron has made a discovery on a barren moon called AT-5. An ocean of blood.”
