Thousands of fans took to social media on Saturday to express their condolences for Evangeline Lilly after the Hollywood actress revealed she had been diagnosed with “brain damage” following an injury.
Previously, the 46-year-old Marvel star had revealed that she was on vacation in Hawaii when the incident occurred last summer.
Sharing a video on Instagram on Friday, she said: “”The verdict is in… I have brain damage from my traumatic brain injury,” she shared about her traumatic brain injury. “It’s comforting to know that my cognitive decline is not just peri-menopause, and uncomfortable to know what an uphill battle it will be to try to reverse the deficiencies.”
According to experts, while mild to moderate brain injuries pose longer-term problems such as reduced cognitive function or memory problems, they are rarely fatal on their own and nothing in Evangeline’s health update indicates that her case is immediately dangerous.
While her fans were sad to learn of her health problem, there were some social media users who brought up her alleged aversion to vaccines and lockdowns, referring to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, her supporters defended the actress, saying: “However, the vaccine would not have prevented anything.”
Commenting on her Instagram video, a fan said: “This is the saddest news I could have this new year. I’m crying for you. I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart, please Evangeline, fight with all your might and don’t give up.”
Another said: “I wish you the best, Evangeline.”
