Jack White just declared that he has no interest in turning public breakup stories into melodies like Taylor Swift.
At the request of The Guardian If he’s writing a lot from personal experience, the former White Stripes frontman responded, “Not too much.”
“Now it’s become very popular in the Taylor Swift way that pop singers write about all their publicly broadcast breakups, which I don’t find interesting at all. I think it’s a bit boring for me to write about myself,” Jack added.
The Army of Seven Nations Hitmaker said he prefers to channel difficult or emotional experiences into fictional characters rather than presenting them directly.
He explained: “If it’s something really painful, I’m not going to let some idiot stomp this important, painful thing that I went through on the Internet.”
“So I put a percentage of that into what I do and then turn it into someone else’s character. I can’t really know myself until I put it in someone else’s shoes,” Jack further said.
The musician also addressed why he has never written overtly political songs, despite being outspoken about figures such as US President Donald Trump.
He said, “Well, when [Bob] Dylan said the answer was blowing in the wind and he didn’t tell you what the answer was.
“I think a lot of people were torn during the protest days: you want to make a statement, but the speaker can be chewed up and spit out. The search for hypocrisy becomes intense as soon as someone steps on stage and condemns someone else,” the spokesperson said. High ball stepper called rocker.
The music icon also made it clear that while he is comfortable speaking plainly about politics in interviews, he would not take the same approach in his music.
