Jane Seymour has opened up about how her latest Hallmark project reflects her own experience finding love.
The actress plays the leading role Twelve dates until Christmas based on Jenni Bayliss’s 2020 novel as a widow who unexpectedly finds romance with Mac, a divorcee.
Speaking to People Magazine, Jane said the character’s journey resonated with her personal life.
She said, “That’s what I felt when I read this. I said, ‘Okay, I know who Evelyn is.’ That dynamic about two older people finding each other is very much my story.”
And he added: ‘And the nervousness of… what is that? How do you deal with this? What are you doing in your life right now? It’s something I know.’
Jane Seymour has been married four times before before meeting John Zambetti in 2023 after their sons introduced them. “I think the Hallmark audience is a lot my age, and they’re experiencing this indirectly,” she noted, adding, “They’re like, ‘Oh my God, that could actually happen.'”
She further noted, “They know in real life that it really happened to me, and then they’re even more interested. ‘Oh, I wonder what that would be like.'”
“I can deal with it in a different way. I’ve never lost anyone who died because of me, but my partner and his wife died, so I can deal with it because I know what I see him going through,” Jane Seymour noted of her character as a widow.
Episodes of Twelve dates until Christmas premieres Friday on Hallmark.
