Jelly Roll responds to the misinterpretation that his facial tattoos are meant to attract attention.
In a recent cover story for Men’s Health, The 41-year-old singer spoke candidly about the misconceptions associated with his facial tattoos, revealing that the inks on his face do not reflect his personality, but “the opposite.”
“The way shame sometimes manifests itself is not always the way we expect. We think of shame as someone on the street on their knees, with their head down. But shame is sometimes pride,” he told the outlet.
As for the meaning behind these inked images, he noted: “After real bravado, I can normally find shame. Normally I can find guilt. Normally I can find insecurity. I was the biggest, the loudest, the toughest, the meanest, the gruntest, the fattest.”
Jelly Role revealed that there was a “very, very small, insecure human being” behind his walls.
“I definitely was. A byproduct of that was that I got so fat,” he added.
Elsewhere in the interview, Jelly Roll also opened up about his weight loss journey, revealing that he has lost 9 and 15 pounds. every month. When he started losing his mass he was about 480-560. Last year he lost almost 200 kg.
