Jelly Roll is proudly kicking off the new year with a major weight loss milestone.
In December 2024, the country singer set his weight loss goal and shared that he’s keeping an eye on the front page of Men’s Health for his journey, hoping to have “one of the biggest transformations” by 2026.
As the new year begins, the 41-year-old singer has appeared in the magazine’s very first 2026 issue, published on January 2.
After losing 275 pounds, Jelly Role told the outlet, “I love my body.”
“This is something very new for me, y’all, I’ve been trapped in a fat suit for thirty years.”
“I’m on the cover of Men’s Health magazine,” he said proudly.
“You know, I was thinking, when I weighed 500 pounds and ran a 40-minute mile, I probably screamed [that] I would be on the cover of Men’s Health. And even for me, as wild as I think, and a big dreamer that I am, that was quite ambitious,” he recalls.
While reflecting on how his weight previously affected him, Jelly Role noted, “It was a never-ending sadness. And anger. I was a prisoner of my own body. Dude, wiping my ass was a problem. Washing myself properly was a problem. Getting into cars. Every decision I made in life had to be based on my weight. If it could hold me, facilitate me, or fit me – people don’t think about every facet of ‘I still want to be able to do that and I can’t do that.’ I was so inspired by things like that.
“I was literally killing myself. I mean, I was eating myself to absolute death…I can’t talk about one part of my life that it didn’t affect,” he added. “I’m ashamed of it. When I think about it being disgusting, I feel ashamed all over again. And shame is the exact same thing that sends me right back to the pantry. It’s the same thing that sends an alcoholic right back to the bar.”
