Jelly Roll’s debut tour of Australia and New Zealand came to an end fans never expected.
The 40-year-old American rapper and singer, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, left his fans disappointed by canceling the final show in Auckland just hours before he took the stage.
Via his Instagram Stories on Friday, November 8, the Grammy-nominated musician announced that he was unable to perform at the Outer Fields in Western Springs due to health issues.
“Dear Auckland, I have done everything I could,” said the Need a favor singer wrote on social media. “I just can’t shake it.”
“It breaks my heart, I’ve probably missed three shows in the last ten years. I’m proud that I can show up no matter what. This time I just couldn’t. Please forgive me,” he added.
Additionally, Live Nation issued a statement about the show’s cancellation, writing: “We regret to announce that the Jelly Roll Down Under 2025 Tour tonight at The Outer Fields at Western Springs in Auckland will no longer be going ahead due to illness.”
Unfortunately, fans did not receive any updates on the cancellation until they arrived at the venue.
The late announcement left many frustrated and disappointed, especially those who had traveled long distances to attend the meeting Son of a sinner hitmaker’s first ever performance in New Zealand.
The country rock star’s first-ever visit to the region included back-to-back shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, a sold-out night at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena and an Adelaide show at the AEC Theatre.
He also headlined the first Strummingbird Festival on the Sunshine Coast, followed by dates in Newcastle and Perth.
