In his biopic, various facets of Bruce Springsteen are explored Springsteen: Save me from nothing– one of which is his mental health issues.
This is the point that Eric Robinson, the film’s producer, praises on how well Jeremy Allen White portrays the musician, who had these problems.
“I think Jeremy approached that role from the beginning as this man, this emotional man – who happens to be Bruce Springsteen – and everything that entails, so we’re fortunate that his performance portrays someone living with mental health issues, which he achieved in such a beautiful way,” he says. Variety.
Eric also adds that Bruce himself has been vocal about his mental health challenges, saying, “Bruce has talked about it that way in his book and in his interviews; he doesn’t shy away from that. He’s a man. He’s a human being.”
But he was reportedly not open about it at first. However, it was his manager, Jon Landau, who convinced him to seek therapy when faced with such thorny issues.
“And by facing that vulnerability, and by confronting his inner life that ended in Nebraska, he was able to transform his trauma through his art into this beautiful masterpiece,” the producer adds.
Springsteen: Save me from nothing was released in theaters last October and critics in particular praised Jeremy’s performance.
