Jeremy Allen White reveals song that helped him find direction amid Bruce Springsteen biopic

Jeremy Allen White used a Bruce Springsteen song to keep his feet on the ground while filming Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.

This is what the actor, who plays a young Springsteen in the biopic, says Mansion on the Hill became his reset button on difficult shooting days.

“Whenever I felt lost or insecure, I would go back to that song,” White, 34, said People at the Gotham Awards in New York City on December 1.

He said the song reflected the heart of the film, which follows Springsteen as he makes his 1982 album Nebraska.

White also registered Mansion on the Hill for the October 24 film and is being praised for playing the 20-time Grammy winner.

In preparation, he studied Springsteen’s physicality as well as his music. “There was a seven-minute interview that I watched almost every morning,” he said. “But it was really the way he held his guitar.”

White analyzed Springsteen’s posture, the way he dropped his head while recording, and how he lifted the harmonica. “When I felt lost, I relied on those things,” he added.

Springsteen: Save me from nothing is in theaters now.
