John Boyega reveals secret call with ‘Star Wars’ boss, sparks return buzz


John Boyega shares that he had a conversation with Lucasfilm boss Dave Filoni

John Boyega, a star in Star Wars in which he plays Finn, confirms that he had a conversation with Dave Filoni, the new president of Lucasfilm, after Kathleen Kennedy’s departure.

It is unclear what the duo discussed, Variety reports, but the revelation came after a fan asked him about it at Megacon Orlando to “get Dave on the phone” regarding his return to the franchise.

“Actually, yes,” he answers playfully, who made his debut in S in 2015tar Wars: The Force Awakenssubsequently reprized his role in the 2017 trilogy’s sequels The Last Jedi and that of 2019 The Rise of Skywalker.

A black actor starring Star Wars universe, Boyega drew racist and toxic responses from a section of fans online.

In addition to pointing this out, Boyega points out the purpose of his criticism of Disney, the studio behind Star Wars, claiming it has disrupted the diversity in the trilogy.

“What I would say to Disney is don’t bring in a black character, market them as much more important to the franchise than they are and then let them be pushed aside. That’s not right. I’ll be honest,” he told Disney. GQ in 2020.

These comments are part of several comments Boyega has made since his debut in Star Warsin response to what he said were racist attacks against him, and Disney’s response to addressing them was inadequate.
