John Lithgow, who takes on the role of Albus Dumbledore in the new Harry Potter series, opened up about his only fear when signing up for the role.
In the new documentary ‘Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic’, for the upcoming TV reboot of the famous film franchise, the 80-year-old actor made clear the disadvantages of filming the role at his age.
“I knew, as I played the first season of Harry Potter, that I would live to be 80 years old,” he said, explaining, “That meant I would live to be about 88 years old before it was all over.”
John admitted, “This is extremely difficult to think about.”
Mentioning the HBO series’ young cast, including Arabella Dominic McLaughlin, Stanton and Alastair Stout, who take on the roles of Harry, Hermione and Ron respectively, John said: “They’re going to grow up in this. And I’m going to grow up with them.”
The ‘Daddy’s Home’ 2 actor further praised the new cast, calling Dominic, McLaughlin, Stanton and Alastair “an amazing ensemble” who “all love each other.”
The Harry Potter TV series is scheduled to release on December 25 on HBO Max.
