Jon Stewart calls on ABC’s movement to suspend Jimmy Kimmel.
On Wednesday, September 17, the network confirmed that Jimmy Kimmel Live! was drawn “indefinitely” after the monologue of the host 15 September about Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed during a Utah Valley University event.
To take over The Daily Show DESK On September 18, Stewart broke from his usual Monday hosting slot to deliver a corrosive response to what he sarcastically called a “government approved” episode.
“You can call it the free speech in the cheerful Old England, but in America we have a small thing called the first amendment and let me tell you how it works,” he said, launching a satirical breakdown of what he called the “talent-o-meter of the president”.
Later Stewart said: “I don’t know who this … Johnny Drimmel Live ABC character is. But the point is that our large administration has established very clear rules for freedom of expression.”
He added jokes: “Some no -sayers can argue … Not me, although … I think it’s great.”
The suspension of Kimmels has fueled the indignation about Hollywood, with stars such as Henry Winkler, Jason Bateman, Kathy Griffin and Ben Uit Stiller.
Actress Jean Smart wrote: “What Jimmy said was free speech, no hateful language … What happens to our country?”
In the meantime, an insider told the Daily mail That Kimmel is “Absolutely F *** ING RIVID” about his suspension and “this will not take light.”
Sources say that Kimmel is already working on ‘ways to get out of his contract’ with ABC and, besides Stephen Colbert, ‘wants to’ do something to fight ‘against the Trump administration.
