Jordin Sparks Debunks Kelly Clarkson’s ‘American Idol’ Prize Money Claim: ‘This is Kind of Crazy’

Jordin Sparks has cleared the air about her winning award on American Idol following Kelly Clarkson’s recent claim.

For those who don’t know, Clarkson hosted Traitors season 4 winners Daniel Radcliffe and Rob Rausch on the March 11 episode of her show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.

While touching on the subject of prize money, Rausch revealed that he had not yet received his $220,800 prize, to which she said, “You know what? I can relate to this so hardcore.”

Clarkson said: “I was literally busy [American Idol]and they said, ‘Oh, you win a million dollars’ or something like that. No, you didn’t. It was a million-dollar investment in you.”

The American singer-songwriter then said that she has not yet received the car prize that she was promised as the winner American Idol season 1 from 2002.

Sparks appeared on the Monday, March 16 episode of TODAY with Jenna & Shenielle, where co-host Justin Sylvester, who was filling in for Jenna Bush Hager, inquired about the claims that not all American Idol winners get their deserved prizes.

In response to his question, the American Idol the season 6 winner revealed, “I have my car.”

She then defended the show, saying, “Look, I wasn’t part of season 1. But the first season of anything is kind of crazy.”

“I hope they give her one now. Send her a Ford,” Sparks said.
