Journalist and author Sezin Koehler was shocked when she came across an article published with her name about a false story about British singer Dua Lipa.
The article, which falsely claimed the “Levitating” singer was transgender, had been online for an unknown amount of time before Koehler explained that she did not write it.
She also rejected the claim that the singer was transgender.
Sezin Koehler wrote: “This is so bizarre, but a fake post with my byline on it is making the rounds. Someone edited an old post The list post with this fake news about Dua Lipa being trans. She’s not. There’s even a typo in her name! If you Google the title of the fake article, no link comes up, just more of the fake screenshot.”
However, despite her explanation, screenshots of the article continue to appear online whenever the singer speaks about her connection to the LGBT community.
Born as a woman in 1995, Dua is known as a strong ally of the LGBTQ+ community and regularly voices her support for her trans fans.
The singer is currently in a romantic relationship with British actor Callum Turner.
