Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and pop star Katy Perry are making headlines as their relationship continues to grow, with those close to them saying the bond is strong.
A source said this Page six that Trudeau has fallen hard for Perry, sharing that “he is crazy about her and thinks she is the perfect woman.”
The insider added that the two feel aligned when it comes to “politics, kids and French food,” calling their connection “simpatico.”
Their most recent public appearance was in Paris, where they celebrated Perry’s 41st birthday at the iconic Crazy Horse cabaret.
“They both have a spark for each other,” said the source, describing the pair’s chemistry.
The rumors first started in July after Trudeau and Perry were spotted dining together at Le Violon in Montreal.
Days later, Trudeau was seen performing during the “Lifetimes” tour at the Bell Center in Montreal. A source said PEOPLE in August that they shared an “instant connection.”
Their relationship only seemed to heat up further. Earlier this month, the former Prime Minister and the Dark horse singer was photographed hugging on her yacht near Santa Barbara, California.
Trudeau left office in January after nearly a decade in office. He and Sophie Grégoire separated in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
One source previously said: “He is sowing his oats again,” adding: “He is free from the bonds of office and marriage.”
The idea of Trudeau dating another public figure hasn’t surprised those who know him.
“I don’t think anyone who knows him is surprised that Justin is dating a celebrity,” said a source, noting that the tendency “reflects his father.”
Pierre Trudeau, Canada’s former prime minister who died in 2000, famously dated stars like Barbra Streisand and Kim Cattrall.
Canadian columnist Shinan Govani, who has followed the Trudeau family for years, explained that Justin was unlikely to date outside the public circle.
“No one who knows Justin, or who has followed him for years, ever thought he would just date a ‘citizen’ after becoming Prime Minister,” she said.
Govani added: “He is inseparable from the spotlight… and is used to mixing it up with a creamy set,” noting that he no longer appears to be affected by public criticism.
Perry recently ended her decade-long relationship with fiancé Orlando Bloom. The couple, who share 5-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, announced their split in a joint statement this summer.
Trudeau and his ex, Sophie, share three children: Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11.
