Song sung blue stars Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman celebrated a big win together.
On Monday, the duo accepted the Gotham Awards’ inaugural 2025 Gotham Musical Tribute Song sung blue.
Speak with People magazine On the red carpet, Kate and Hugh revealed what they learned from each other while working together.
Kate told the outlet, “Hugh, his superpower is connecting.”
He added: “Whether it’s on stage, whether it’s on set, whether it’s with everyone – he just wants to connect and make sure everyone is happy.”
“I’ve learned that one of the greatest gifts you can give people is to actually have a desire to connect with them,” the actress noted. Additionally, she turned to the Deadpool & Wolverine star and said, “I think you give that to everyone, even though it takes a lot out of you. You’re like a masseuse who constantly gives energy to other people, and needs energy for you.”
On the other hand, Hugh, who stood next to her during the conversation, said: “I learned a lot from Kate. I actually learned about acting on film. I’ve done almost fifty films, but somehow working with Kate – it’s very difficult to describe, but the combination of being prepared and just being instinctive is a very fine line and no one does it better than Kate Hudson.”
He added, “Being with her has taught me and I think made me a better actor.”
“There were also two key moments where she stood up for the film, which was tricky for the timing and for everyone, but both moments are now key moments in the film,” the actor said. “So it’s kind of this idea of choosing what you want, knowing when to just really say, ‘No, I don’t agree with that.’ And I learned that from Kate, because she is the sweetest, kindest, nicest, always wonderful. So when Kate Hudson says, ‘I think this is a mistake, I think we should go left and not right,’ everyone stops and listens.”
While Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson just kicked off awards season with a big win Song sung blue, the actress is also receiving Oscar buzz for her role.
Commenting on the awards ceremony, Kate said: “You never know with these things. I’ve been around long enough to know that people really love the film.”
“And just, you know, show up where they tell me to go,” she added.
