Kate Winslet has shared her experience filming intimate scenes early in her career.
During an appearance on the latest episode of the Team Deakins podcast, the 50-year-old actress shared that her “first intimate experiences” as a teenager were “with girls.”
Thinking about her breakthrough drama thriller: Heavenly beings, Kate said: “I’ll share something I’ve never shared before. Some of my first intimate experiences as a young teenager were actually with girls.”
“I’d kissed a few girls, and I’d kissed a few boys, but I wasn’t particularly developed in either direction,” she explained.
The Titanic actress went on to say, “At that stage of my life, I was certainly curious, and I think there was something about the really intense bond that those two women had that I deeply understood.”
“I was so immediately sucked into the vortex of the world they were in that it obviously became terribly damaging to both of them, and they had huge insecurities and vulnerabilities,” she added.
For those unfamiliar, Kate starred opposite Melanie Lynskey Heavenly beings. The film follows the story of two teenage girls whose intense friendship turns into a dangerously obsessive bond.
Heavenly beings was released in theaters in 1994.
