Kate Winslet recently reflected on the positive effects of growing older at age 50.
During an appearance in the final episode of How to Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast on November 17, the Titanic star explains how growing older has helped her become more comfortable with her body.
“I’m great at it. I think I look great in it,” says Kate.
Revolutionary way actress notes that over the years she has learned to see aging in a different light.
“We’re so conditioned, women in our 40s, to think, OK, I’m creeping closer and closer to the end,” says Kate.
The reader actress continues, “You know, you think you’re going to go through menopause and you’re not going to have sex anymore, and your breasts are going to sag, and your skin is going to be crepey, and all that stuff.”
“But first of all, so what? And second of all, it’s just conditioning,” says Kate.
Elsewhere in the interview The holiday actress points out that as women grow older, they become more confident and come to terms with their bodies.
“I think as women get older, they become more embedded in their truth and who they are, and they become more powerful, and they become more able to walk through the world and worry less. And that’s empowering,” Kate notes.
Meanwhile, the actress shares that as she grows older, she starts focusing on her health.
“For me, exercise isn’t so much about looking a certain way. It’s about not getting injured,” says Kate as she talks about her preferences.
That’s why Kate adds, “I haven’t hurt myself in my life, because I always want to swim in the cold water, and I always want to be able to walk for five hours.”
