Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s new relationship has created a win-win situation for the duo, says an insider.
The singer, who is currently dating Canada’s former Prime Minister, has become part of pop culture again, giving them both the PR they needed.
“He felt inadequate,” the source said of Trudeau.
“When you’re a big star or politician, you get a variable. People either love you or hate you. The Blue Origin journey has backfired for her from a PR and branding point of view… [It] also brought her into the political realm, along with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez,” a music industry source told Page Six. “That really complicates things.”
“Fifteen years ago, Katy Perry was red hot,” a veteran music industry insider told Page Six in April. “Now her name never crosses my desk again. It happens to a lot of artists. They have their moment and it passes. It seems like a long time ago that she and Taylor were seen as rivals on a similar playing field.”
After their hard launch on social media, the couple received a lot of public attention, and social media users began praising their bond, leading PR strategists to speculate whether the couple would milk their relationship for the benefit of their public brands.
“Star f–king is really Trudeau’s brand. I don’t think these things are hard to sort out when you’re in those circles,” a political source told Page Six.
