Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau may have reached another milestone in their blossoming relationship after making their red carpet debut as a couple.
According to fans, the Fireworks singer and the former Prime Minister of Canada just achieved another goal: getting matching tattoos.
On Tuesday, November 11, the 41-year-old American singer-songwriter shared a carousel on Instagram, documenting the process of getting her brand new ink, half a butterfly on her wrist.
Among other photos and videos, there was a short clip of the pop star pairing her half butterfly with another wrist that appeared to belong to a man.
Although she didn’t say anything about getting matching tattoos with her new boyfriend, fans wasted no time in speculating that the mystery arm belonged to her new boyfriend.
One excited fan said in the comments section: “Omg you and Justin have matching tattoos!! That’s actually so cute, I love the design [heart eyes emoji].”
Another asked: “Matching tattoos with Justin?” followed by a third user: “Is the other hand Mr. T’s hand?”
“Damn! I thought you got JT’s initials! He’s the happiest man on earth,” a fourth user added, while a fifth said: “Who else has a tattoo?”
While fans quickly floated theories that the new couple in town has taken their relationship to the next level with matching tattoos, the 13-time Grammy nominee’s caption may have hinted at a different story.
She thanked the tattoo artist for “taking care of me and my tour crew today,” suggesting the matching ink may have been done with one of her team members instead of her new boyfriend.
Her new tattoo comes just before her final European performance in Madrid during The Lifetimes Tour.
“I can’t believe it’s already time for The Lifetimes Tour tattoos [butterfly emoji]” Perry wrote next to the monstage. Tonight we take to the infinity stage in Madrid one last time before wrapping up the tour in China, Japan and Abu Dhabi. Only 8 shows to go…”
Since the post, fans have been wondering: was the matching tattoo a beautiful new chapter with Justin, or just a fun moment of bonding with her crew?
