Keanu Reeves is grateful for the happiness in his love life, even as marriage rumors continue to swirl about him and his longtime girlfriend Alexandra Grant.
The Matrix star, 61, addressed the speculation at the premiere of his new film in New York City Good luck on October 13, narrating E! News that the chatter didn’t bother him much.
“Well, that wasn’t the first time,” Reeves said, smiling. “We’ve been dating for a long time.”
He also praised Alexandra, 52, for the graceful way she handled the rumors online after fans wrongly believed the couple had secretly married.
“The wedding, it’s a nice thing,” he said. “People were doing a lot of nice messages and stuff, but Alexandra just did a great job [job] address. Like: ‘Thanks, but this is reality.’”
The confusion started in late September after Alexandra posted a photo of the couple sharing a kiss at an art exhibition.
Many assumed it was an engagement or marriage announcement, but the artist quickly set the record straight.
“This is a real photo,” she wrote on Instagram on September 24. “No engagement photo or AI wedding announcement…just a kiss!”
She continued, “I’m sharing it here to thank everyone for congratulating us on our wedding. Only we’re not married. Good news is much needed these days, but it’s still fake news, so be careful! So here’s some real happiness!”
Keanu and Alexandra, who started dating in 2018, have kept much of their relationship private over the years, occasionally attending art events or movie premieres together.
And while marriage isn’t on the table yet, it’s clear from both their words and actions that their bond remains strong, based on respect, humor and genuine happiness.
