Keith Urban got caught up in new romance rumors just weeks after his divorce from Nicole Kidman, and now fellow Brit Alexandra Kay has spoken out to clear the air.
Kay, who is close friends with 25-year-old musician Maggie Baugh, addressed the speculation that Urban was dating his guitarist after the split.
Speaking to Taste of Country, the Backroad Therapy singer said the rumors were completely false.
“She’s a good friend of mine and I know that’s absolutely not true,” Kay said.
“I met her boyfriend and she is very happy. She has nothing to do with that whole relationship.”
The singer, who rose to fame with her soulful country ballads and viral coffee videos, also expressed her condolences to everyone involved.
“I think it’s sad for everyone that people are breaking up their personal lives,” she added. “I pray for peace for them.”
Urban, 57, was first linked to Baugh and singer Kelsea Ballerini after reports surfaced that he was moving on following his divorce from Kidman.
Fans further speculated when Urban appeared to change the lyrics of a song during a show to include Baugh’s name.
Kidman filed for divorce on September 30 after 19 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.
However, the actress asked to be the primary residential parent of their daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
The couple, who tied the knot in a Sydney church in 2006, reportedly struggled to spend time together due to their busy filming and touring schedules.
Despite the split, sources claimed there was still “a lot of love” between them.
