Keith Urban asked fans not to read too much into his lyrics after he changed a few lines during his Nashville concert.
The country star sang his song You will think of me at Bridgestone Arena on October 17 and made a few notable adjustments that caught the crowd’s attention.
“I’ve had this for a long time. Don’t read into it anymore,” he told the crowd after some fans started linking the lyric changes to his recent breakup with Nicole Kidman.
In the song, the music icon added an expletive to the line: “Take your records, take your freedom, take your memories, I don’t need them, take your space and all your good reasons, but you’re gonna think about me.”
He also sang, “Take your cat and leave my sweater behind, ’cause we got nothing left to deal with, in fact, I’ll feel a lot better, but you’ll be thinking of me.”
His comments came after weeks of speculation about his emotional state following Kidman’s divorce filing.
However, fans have closely analyzed all of his appearances, especially moments that seem to be related to their 19-year marriage.
During the same show, when a fan introduced himself as ‘Nicole’, Urban jokingly fell back on stage, drawing loud laughter from the audience.
Additionally, Urban has not publicly shared what caused the split or spoken on social media since Kidman filed for divorce on September 30.
The former couple had already arranged a parenting plan for their daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret and signed a prenuptial agreement before they split.
As Urban turns 58 later this month, he seems focused on music and finding peace in this new chapter of his life.
