Now that five months have passed since the death of Brandon Blackstock, the ex-husband and father of Kelly Clarkson’s children, River, 11, and Remington, 9, the singer has come forward.
She spoke out during a backstage Q&A on The Kelly Clarkson Show, explaining what she’s prioritizing now that her ex has passed away.
She started off by talking about her kids’ ages right now, saying, “My kids, they’re 9 and 11. Kind of a special little fun stage where they can wipe their own butts, but they’re still small enough that they like to cuddle and cuddle,” so “there’s been a lot going on for our family lately, and so I’ve been letting my kids sleep with me a little bit.”
Regarding life after her ex’s death, she said, “It’s my two dogs, my two kids and me. It’s a lot.”
However, she did not forget to mention some positive points, as she called the moments “really special” for memories, because in her eyes “the conversations you have during that time are quite cute. So that’s probably my favorite moment of the day”, which she concluded with the words.
For those unaware of Brandon’s passing, he passed away in August 2025, after a battle with cancer that lasted more than three years.
At the time, a spokesperson for Clarkson came forward to say, “He died peacefully and surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy at this very difficult time.”
