Kim Kardashian has shared another look at the four puppies she gifted her children at Christmas, weeks after receiving criticism from animal rights activists.
On March 6, the reality star posted two photos to Instagram showing the family’s Pomeranian puppies (the same photos she first shared on Christmas Day) and wrote, “Welcome to the fam.”
The photos show four small dogs, two with dark fur, one cream-colored and one with sable fur. Kardashian previously revealed on Instagram Stories that each of her four children, whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West, received a puppy as a gift.
In January, she also posted videos of her children playing with the dogs at home. In one video, a puppy licked her hand while one of the children off camera said, “Mommy, look, he’s licking me.” Another clip showed Chicago hugging and kissing one of the dogs as he chased it around the living room with Psalm.
The Christmas gift sparked a backlash from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, whose founder, Ingrid Newkirk, criticized the move.
“Puppies are not cuddly toys,” Newkirk said in a statement, adding that Kardashian could have used her platform to promote the adoption of animals from shelters.
She also suggested that Kardashian and her sister Khloé Kardashian, who also reportedly donated a dog to her family, consider supporting local shelters or adoption initiatives in the future.
The Kardashian-Jenner family has long been known for having numerous pets. Kardashian and her children have previously shared photos of their bearded dragon named Speed, while the family also owns several other Pomeranians, including one named Sushi.
