Kyle Connor focuses on Jets’ NHL season after skipping Trump’s White House invite

Kyle Connor has turned down an invitation to the White House following Team USA’s Olympic gold medal victory, choosing instead to focus on the Winnipeg Jets’ NHL season.

Connor played in the first two matches of the Milano Cortina tournament, but was later healthy scratched.

After Team USA secured gold, several players were invited to celebrate at the White House with President Donald Trump. Connor was not present.

Connor said in Murat Ates’ comments on

The team’s celebration drew criticism online, especially because of Trump’s comments about the women’s national team.

Connor said he didn’t react much to the controversy: “I don’t really have an opinion on that. There’s so many things going on.”

“We just won the gold medal, and there’s a lot going on, so I can’t really remember what he said. It’s such a whirlwind, just celebrating.”

Connor now shifts his focus back to the Jets as the NHL season progresses.
