Quarterback Kyler Murray has signed with the Minnesota Vikings after being released by the Arizona Cardinals earlier this month.
The Vikings confirmed the move on Thursday and the deal is a one-year deal, according to ESPN.
ESPN reported that the Vikings will pay $1.3 million of the $36.8 million Murray was already guaranteed under his previous contract with Arizona.
The Cardinals agreed to release Murray on March 3, although the move did not become official until Wednesday.
Murray now joins a Minnesota quarterback group that also includes former No. 10 draft pick JJ McCarthy.
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell has talked this offseason about bolstering the team’s depth at quarterback.
McCarthy has started just 10 games in two seasons since Minnesota selected him in the 2024 draft.
The young quarterback also battled injuries, including a torn right meniscus that forced him to miss the entire 2024 season.
Murray, 28, spent seven seasons with the Cardinals and was selected first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft after winning the Heisman Trophy.
The signing could create competition for Minnesota’s starting quarterback role heading into the new season.
