Lily Allen’s new album is the talk of the town, putting social media sleuths into investigative mode to find out who the woman she’s singing about is.
The 40-year-old singer and actress seemingly accuses her ex-husband, David Harbour, of infidelity in her album, West End girl.
The Grammy winner mentions a woman named Madeline in two songs, TennisAnd Madeline.
Speaking of the inspiration behind the name: “[She’s] a fictional character,” in her interview with The Times of London.
Allen also shared that the character is an amalgamation of many people, adding, “I just feel like we’re living in really interesting times — in terms of how we define intimacy and monogamy, whether people are disposable or not.”
The Smile hitmaker, whose latest release has resonated with listeners around the world, told the outlet: “The way we are intimate with each other is changing as people. Many young women no longer find the idea of marriage or even a long-term relationship as appealing.”
While Allen hasn’t revealed if there is a real inspiration behind Madeline, fans are curious about the allegations that led to the murder. Stranger things star and singer split after four years together.
