Lizzo claims legal victory in fat-shaming lawsuit

Lizzo has taken to social media to celebrate a legal victory.

Claims of fat-shaming were dismissed in a lawsuit filed against her by three of her former dancers.

In August 2023, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez filed suit against the singer, but a judge has now dismissed a key part of the allegations, in which the dancers claimed Lizzo had shamed them in the workplace.

Although these claims have now been dropped, the larger lawsuit continues, with other allegations including the allegation that Lizzo created a hostile work environment and that she even engaged in sexual harassment with the incidents alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2023.

Lizzo has strongly denied all allegations.

The singer posted a video to her social media of herself standing in front of a camera while a series of written statements captioned the video.

“The fat shameful claims against me have been officially dropped by my accusers,” the caption read. “They admitted it had no value in court.”

It continued: “There was no evidence that I fired them because they gained weight.”

“Because it never happened. Now the truth is finally coming out. They weren’t fired because of their weight gain. They were fired because they took a private recording of me without my consent and sent it to ex-employees,” the text added.

“I have never fired an employee for gaining weight. I have only encouraged and supported larger-bodied people and shared my platform with them,” Lizzo’s video said.

“This claim has haunted me since the day it came out. It was devastating to have to suffer through this in silence, but I let my lawyers take the lead and I am so grateful for this victory. I am still in a legal battle. I will not settle. I will fight every claim until the truth comes out,” the report concluded.
