Louis Tomlinson tells how he got free promotion from Swifties for his new LP.
During the One direction alum’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonLouis revealed that he accidentally caught the attention of Taylor Swift fans after making a few promotional hints for his new album How did I get here? led to confusion among Swifties.
Louis revealed that this was one of his albums that he felt confident about making.
He told Jimmy: “I felt really comfortable making it, I really enjoyed the process. I even enjoyed making the promo, which is new for me.”
And while promoting his song Lemonade, he dropped a few Easter eggs for his fans, but it got the expected response.
“It’s good to see people reaching for that stuff,” Louis said.
He added, “What was also fun about it was that Taylor Swift’s fans seemed to get a little confused, thinking it was somehow related to her album. So I got a free promo.”
Since it was seemingly unexpected for Louis to catch the attention of Swifties, he also reflected on how it wasn’t easy for him to become a solo artist after the One Direction split.
“Every moment, every memory I have with One Direction is incredibly special,” he noted, adding that it was “quite intimidating” to start solo again after being in a boy band.
“It’s not for the faint of heart,” he noted.
