Marco Rossi scored with just 9.5 seconds left to lift the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks, delaying Anaheim’s chance at a playoff spot.
According to TSN, Rossi struck with a one-timer from the right circle, beating goalkeeper Lukas Dostal in the closing moments to seal the win.
The Ducks are still on 90 points and can still clinch a playoff spot with a win in their next game.
Despite being at the bottom of the NHL standings with 56 points, Vancouver remained steady throughout the game.
Curtis Douglas, Jake DeBrusk and Brock Boeser each scored for the Canucks, while goaltender Nikita Tolopilo made 24 saves.
Anaheim was led by Cutter Gauthier, who scored twice this season and reached a career-high 40 goals.
The 22-year-old becomes just the fourth player in franchise history to achieve that goal. Leo Carlsson also found the net.
The Ducks had fought back in the third period to tie the game at 3-3 on goals from Gauthier and Carlsson. However, Rossi’s late strike allowed the Canucksgfot to come away with the win.
