It seems that Mark Ruffalo’s commitment to activism is just as strong as his commitment to acting. The latest example is his call for a boycott of ChatGPT.
The reason, he explains, is that the chatbot company, OpenAI, received funding from President Donald Trump and is also responsible for ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
In response to the company’s growing ties with the current US administration, Ruffalo is urging fans to join QuitGPT, a grassroots movement.
The platform went viral after Greg Brockman, the president of OpenAI, donated $25 million to the pro-Trump Super PAC, MAGA Inc.
“The president of ChatGPT is Trump’s biggest donor. It’s time to boycott. To every artist who wants to fight back against AI and stand with Minneapolis, here’s your chance. Join quitgpt.org,” the post’s caption read.
The Marvel star, meanwhile, is calling for a boycott and also offering his fans alternative options.
“There are other other chat apps you can use that are actually just as good, or cheaper, or more private, and don’t fund the evil in the world. I’m thinking of Lumo from ProtonMail, but also DuckDuckGo. I’m sure there are many more.”
Meanwhile, Ruffalo has reprized his Hulk character Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film debuts in theaters on July 31.
