Matthew Perry’s stepmother has called for a maximum sentence in the ketamine case, with just one day left in dealer Jasveen Sangha’s sentencing hearing.
Debbie Perry filed a victim impact statement with the judge on April 7, saying the pain her loved ones felt couldn’t be undone. She asked the court to ensure that Sangha could not harm others in the future.
“The pain you have caused hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people is irreversible,” People quoted Debbie’s words from the court document. “There’s no joy… No light in the window. They’re not coming back.”
She continued, “You caused this… You, who have enough business talent to make money, have chosen the only way that hurts people.”
In her closing remarks, Debbie asked the court to ensure Sangha could not harm others in the future.
“Please give this heartless woman the maximum prison sentence so she can’t hurt other families like ours,” she wrote.
The statement comes a day before Sangha is due to be sentenced. Prosecutors have asked for a 15-year prison sentence, while the defense is asking for a 15-year sentence.
Perry died on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54. The autopsy showed that the Friends alum died from the acute effects of ketamine. Sangha is one of several people charged in the case, as authorities hold the network responsible for exploiting his addiction to supply drugs.
The Ketamine Queen previously pleaded guilty to selling ketamine to Perry in the weeks immediately before his death. On the day he died, Perry’s assistant administered multiple injections before finding him unconscious in a hot tub, the lawsuits state.
Authorities also claim that Sangha tried to delete evidence after learning of his death. She has been in custody since August 2024.
