Michael B. Jordan talks about one of his biggest passion projects.

In a new conversation Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcastthe actor-filmmaker revealed new details about his upcoming reinterpretation of The Thomas Crown Affair.

“The Brosnan version was the one I watched as a kid, and I thought, ‘Oh man, this is great, I love this,’” he said.

Jordan, who made his directorial debut in 2023 with Confession of Faith IIIalso said he was the one to present a modern take on the beloved heist novel to Amazon MGM Studios.

“I was about 13, 14 years old. Obviously the whole love thing was a little over my head, but as far as the art, the slickness, the wish fulfillment… I didn’t go to a lot of museums growing up as a kid. But when I watched that movie, I saw a side of New York that I probably hadn’t seen before.”

The new film is set and shot in London and is expected to hit theaters on March 5, 2027.

Jordan added that his early exposure to art played a role in shaping his vision.

“My mother is an artist, so I grew up painting and canvassing, upholstery and dyeing leather… So I had a love and appreciation for the journey of an artist before I became an artist myself.”

Expanding on his creative intentions, Jordan explained that he wanted his version to feel fresh rather than overly familiar.

“For me, the biggest thing was that I didn’t want it to be a reboot or remake,” he said. “I really want to reimagine it. So it was a reimagining of what it is… what I liked about it was that it didn’t have too much baggage. There was just enough time and space between the generations.”
