A performance of a Grease dance medley and a live performance by British singer Raye were the main highlights of Millie Bobby Brown’s wedding last year.
However, the ceremony was small and private, but the Stranger Things star reveals there will be a big event this year.
Speaking to Dish from the Waitrose podcast, Millie said she had quite a bit of time performing at her family gathering.
So when the time of her wedding came, she said the dance there had to have a choreographed sequence.
“I grew up with so many dance routines at pretty much every family gathering,” the star adds.
The idea behind her first dance with her husband, Jake Bongiovi, is to make it special.
She continues, “So when Jake proposed, I thought, ‘We have to learn a dance routine. We’ll remember it forever, and when the song comes on our 80s, we’ll remember the dance. Like it’s going to be so special to us.'”
For dance, Millie says she first thought about Dirty Dancing, but quickly abandoned the idea.
“So I gave us dance lessons, and originally we were going to do Dirty Dancing, and I thought, ‘Oh my God, if you get that lift wrong, it’s too much.’
Instead, the 20-year-old opted for the fat dance, a dance form that was popular in the 1980s.
“So we did a Grease mix of songs; it was probably like a six-minute dance. People were like, ‘Oh my God, you can tell she’s an actor.'”
“We created a six-minute choreographed routine,” she continues. “I can’t believe Jake actually did it. We did a Grease medley, so it started with ‘You’re the One That I Want’, it went into ‘Summer Nights’ and it went into ‘We Stick Together’. We dressed as Sandy and Danny, but it was epic.”
Millie credits her husband for outdoing himself on the dance floor, adding, “We didn’t miss a beat. I don’t regret that one bit. It was like we put on a show. He’s an actor too, so we loved being able to do that and perform in front of everyone.”
But the fun at the wedding didn’t stop there, as Raye’s emotional live performance took place shortly after the dance scene.
It’s worth noting that Millie and Jake secretly tied the knot, as only their loved ones knew about it before the couple made it public.
